Food Truck – Right to your Doorstep
As read on Unruly, guest blogged by 100 Layer Cake.
Both of which, are the two daily must-reads on my list.
For those who have spent a decent amt of time nomming with me, I ADORE FOOD. And extra love always goes to nostalgic places, old-school finds and street food. And I’m always drawn to these food trucks along the streets, and I’d even tail them till they stop. I simply love parking myself alongside these trucks and watch them run their business. To me, it’s a beauty to enjoy. =)
At some point a couple of years ago, a few friends almost, ALMOST came together to do this business. Almost, i said. But’s so tricky doing food in SG as we’ve so many regulations on raw food and consumption. But of course it didn’t work out.
As known, the food truck scene in all possible countries is a phenomenon. Social media has even played a part on this, with business tweeting about their whereabouts. Thus the uproar. It’s like the ice cream man in SG sharing his location on Whatsapp or 4square. Heh.
But honestly, this is where food trucking business have seen their next wave of success. Not just by the tailing of the aroma, but navigating your way to them.
Just a few pictures of food trucks that caught my eye, and of course, made me salivate:
Ton Ton Japanese Food Cart – Philadelphia
No frills, straight-to-the-point
Big Gay Ice Cream Truck – New York
The name tells it all.
Maximus Minimus – SeattleAnd I really think this might not work for this SEA region.
But it looks bullet-proof enough.
Lok Lok – Johor Bahru, Malaysia
One thing for sure, this is good stuff.
The food truck scene is getting so big and viable.
As competition picks up, I’m sure feeling a new business – Retail ID, Architecture, Retail & Marketing Consultation for Mobile Business, anyone?
I’m very sure this is a different ball-game altogether.

Smile Booth
Sunday Spotted.
If you have a party or event on your agenda with photo ops, what could be better than a chalkboard speech bubble and a literal photo booth. I foresee many hours of fun and captures of genuine smiles and laughter.

Dear Future Employer
Dear Future Employer:
A wise friend once told me, “A dream job is not waiting to be found, but a series of experiences that brings you to the one you realize is perfect.” I know that she is right, but in the spirit ofimpatience persistence, I would like to reach out to you first. Certainly in my short twenty-something years on this earth, I have only experienced a fraction of what I will over time. Nonetheless, I believe my experiences to be of value, and with that said, I would like to take the first step to tell you what I am looking for. I would like to work for an employer who treats me like a human. Despite what I look like first thing in the morning, I am undoubtedly, a human being (check the birth certificate). Please appreciate me for who I am and what I can do for you. Although I have possibly never met you before, I remain confident in the fact that I can help you.
Please teach me things. Not only am I a fast learner, but I love to learn. Also, please note: just because I want you to teach me things does not mean you should consider yourself above being taught. We all still have things to learn—even you.
Please challenge me. I am not above filing and picking up coffee in the morning, but I need to be challenged. If you’re not challenging me, you are wasting my talents, and I hate to be wasteful.
If you would like to pretend that I do not have a life outside of work, that is fine—as long as you know in the back of your head that I do. It’s fine if you did not go to college, but please do not speak poorly of those who did. I value education and it would be even better if you did too.
Please do not take credit for my ideas and/or my writing assignments. I am not a credit hog by any means, but I believe stealing praise for someone else’s work is a sign of poor management, poor leadership, and most importantly, a lack of respect.
Please put me in a position where I can write and talk to people, because I happen to be pretty good at both of those things. And don’t worry, it’s okay to ask me to organize the supply closet because I amOCD a neat freak.
Finally, please ask a lot of me and set high expectations for my success. If the bar is not set high, don’t bother hiring me. That would be a waste, and I hate to be wasteful.
We are both aware that this is a two-way street here. If you are willing and able to meet the terms of this letter, I, in return, will: work hard, stay late, occasionally bring coffee (maybe donuts), work harder, stay later, be a good team player, have a positive attitude, work even harder, bring new ideas to the table, meet your deadlines, be a joy to work with, rise to the occasion, and—I promise, you will never, ever regret hiring me. I guarantee it.
Please find me soon. Until then, I’ll beimpatiently patiently waiting.
Best,

tie a pretty black ribbon around this OAK tree
I'm so madly in love with OAK's collection.
Simplicity played around with touches of detailing and drapery.
This collection is sure not to be missed.
The black infinity wrap is also probably your next I-can't-live-without wardrobe item.
Will need to dig out more on the styling and photography.
It is amazing work and does justice to the pieces.
